Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide

SoBS exist to meet the needs and overcome the isolation experienced by people over 18 who have been bereaved by suicide.

On this page you will find:

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SoBS) exists to provide free peer support to adults bereaved by suicide in a timely and open-ended manner so that no one bereaved by suicide has to face their loss alone. They offer a national helpline, peer support groups, email support and a global forum.

SoBS has a Peer Support Group in Leicester that meets in the Belgrave area. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month and also arranges social gatherings on a regular basis to help combat the stigma and isolation felt by someone bereaved by suicide. The group can be contacted via their email address, leicester@uksobs.org or on their phone, 07535 285973

In addition to their face-to-face groups, there is also 2 virtual groups meeting over Zoom. These groups cater for specific areas of the community. There is a Punjabi Speaking Women's Group who can be contacted using the birmingham@uksobs.org email address, and a bereaveMENt service especially for men contactable via bereavement@uksobs.org

If you would like to talk to one of the SoBS volunteers over the phone then you can call their National Helpline, 0300 111 5065, available 9am - 9pm Monday to Sunday. All of the volunteers have been bereaved by suicide themselves.

If you want to explore your feelings via email then you can contact the email support team via their email address which is email.support@uksobs.org. Again all of the volunteers on the email support service have been bereaved by suicide themselves.
