Stress is a normal part of everyday life. Some people even find stress motivating in certain situations. But if stress if affecting your life, there are things you can try, in addition to self-care and the 5 ways to wellbeing, that may help.


Tips for managing stress

  • Take control – the feeling of losing control can be one of the main causes of stress and poor wellbeing. Trying to act to take control of what you can maybe a crucial part of finding a solution.
  • Accept the things you can't change – sometimes it is not always possible to change a difficult situation. Instead try to concentrate on things you do have control over.
  • Avoid unhealthy habits – it is important that we find ways to relieve stress but unhealthy habits, such as drinking alcohol and smoking, won't solve your problems, only create new longer term ones. Try to find healthy ways to relieve stress.
  • Try to be positive – look throughout your day for positive things, the little things you are grateful for, that make you smile.
  • Identify your triggers – working out what may be triggering your stress can help you to prepare for dealing with it. Take sometime to think about what is making you feel stressed right now. These stressors may change over time.
